fomo.family API: is there one, and what to use instead

FOMO (fomo.family) has no public developer API. Here's the FOMO family API developers use instead: leaderboard, trader wallets and trades as JSON.

If you searched for a fomo.family API, you probably want FOMO's traders in your own product: the leaderboard, a trader's PnL, their wallets, the tokens they're buying. Here's the honest state of things and what you can build on today.

FOMO doesn't publish a developer API

The FOMO app has a backend, as every app does, but it's built for FOMO's own clients. At the time of writing FOMO doesn't offer a documented, public developer API: no API keys, no published rate limits, no terms for building on it. An endpoint you find by watching the app's network traffic can change or disappear without notice, and it isn't yours to build a business on.

What you can use instead

1. Fomo Api (that's us)

GET https://api.fomo-api.com/v1/leaderboard returns the fomo.family trader leaderboard as JSON, for 24h, 7d and 30d. Each row carries the trader's handle, display name, PnL as FOMO reports it, clan, followers, top holdings, and the trading wallets we've linked to them. The first 10 rows are free without a key. The FOMO leaderboard API guide walks through every field.

Try it from a terminal, no sign-up:

curl "https://api.fomo-api.com/v1/leaderboard?window=24h&limit=10"

Beyond the leaderboard, a key gets you /v1/traders/:traderId/trades (a trader's last 30 days of trades, covered in the FOMO trader trades API guide) and /v1/wallet/:address (one wallet's PnL computed from on-chain swaps). Every endpoint, parameter and error is on one page in the Fomo Api docs overview.

What a FOMO family API should give you

Whichever provider you pick, check it for these before you build on it:

  • Says whose number it is. FOMO's PnL is mark-to-market. A computed realized PnL is a different figure. A row that mixes them without a label will disagree with the app and you won't know why.
  • Wallets you can trust. A trader linked to the wrong wallet sends a copy-trading bot after someone else's trades.
  • Freshness on the response. A timestamp on every payload, so you can tell a quiet trader from a stale feed.
  • Published limits. Rate limits and quotas you can read from the API, not discover from a 429.

2. Other third-party APIs

FomoAPI.io is another independent API covering fomo.family data, priced in credits. It's a different product from ours despite the similar name. See FomoAPI vs Fomo Api for the differences.

3. Read the chain yourself

FOMO traders trade on public blockchains, so in principle you can rebuild their history from the chain. The hard part is knowing which wallet belongs to which trader. In our experience the addresses visible around a profile aren't reliably the wallet a trader actually trades from, which is why we link wallets one by one and only publish links we've verified.

Which to pick

  • You want the leaderboard as FOMO shows it: /v1/leaderboard, default board.
  • You want numbers you can audit: /v1/leaderboard?board=solana, realized PnL from on-chain swaps with coverage on every row.
  • You want one trader's activity: take their traderId from the leaderboard and call /v1/traders/:traderId/trades.
  • You want to follow top traders as they trade: see building a FOMO copy-trading watchlist.

Frequently asked questions

Does fomo.family have a public API?
Not at the time of writing. FOMO's app talks to its own backend, but FOMO doesn't publish a documented developer API with keys, rate limits or terms for third-party use.
How can I get FOMO trader data into my app?
Use an API that publishes it. Fomo Api's /v1/leaderboard returns the fomo.family leaderboard as JSON for 24h, 7d and 30d, with handles, clans, followers, linked wallets and top holdings. The first 10 rows need no key.
Is Fomo Api made by FOMO?
No. Fomo Api (fomo-api.com) is an independent product and isn't affiliated with FOMO (fomo.family).
